Inspired by Governor's Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott and their inhumane tactics of using migrants as political pawns, we're re-broadcasting this I.B.I.S. Radio production from 2017: "On this very special episode of LOCAL EDITION the BINJ Report, Producer Dave Goodman and colleagues from the Boston Institute for Non-profit Journalism, bring you "The High Cost of Free Speech." Based on coverage of the reaction just after protests in Charlottesville, VA led to the death of a demonstrator and two police officers. In Boston a rally by about 40 conservative white identifiers was met by nearly 40,000 counter demonstrators. Participants and commentators include labor activist Merrie Najimy, Bentley University History Professor Marc Stern, MA State Representative Byron Rushing and BINJ Network Director Jason Pramas. Hosted by Dave Goodman with feature reporting by Chuck Rosina. Musical interludes by Selwyn Birchwood, Elliot Schneider and Paul Robeson. Other music by The Expressions, El Michaels Affair, and The Boston Typewriter Orchestra."
