Steve Forbert Interview Show Mississippi born and bred, singer-songwriter Steve Forbert came to prominence in 1978 with his self-titled debut album after his entrepreneurship both in the folkie haunts of Greenwich Village and the dirty confines of punk haven CBGB's, opening up for the likes of Talking heads and the Velvet Underground's John Cale. His big hit, the endearing "Romeo's Tune," came from his sophomore release "Jackrabbit Slim." After two more albums, things turned upside down as his record label refused his fifth offering, and Steve suffered six years in the musical wilderness. His career righted itself in 1988, and he continues to tour and bring that unmistakable voice to live venues everywhere.
