Not just a song about that shirt you've been seeing everywhere... or it's sister, "The Future is Non-Binary." From the Otherwild.com website, which makes The Future is Female shirts: "The original 'The Future Is Female' T-shirt design was made for Labyris Books, the first women’s bookstore in New York City, which was opened in 1972 by Jane Lurie and Marizel Rios. The photographer Liza Cowan took a picture of musician Alix Dobkin, her girlfriend at the time, wearing it in 1975."
After releasing this song about sexual violence, Tori Amos received a deluge of fan letters from fellow survivors who didn't have anyone to turn to. Amos wanted to help. She co-founded RAINN, the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network. Their hotline is available 24/7: 800.656.HOPE (4673). They also have live chat available on their website, rainn.org.
